I am Kirsten Kozlowski and I am currently at the London College of Fashion, studying styling. I will be a junior in the Retail Merchandising and Management at Stout. I am originally from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, but London has always been THE place I’ve wanted to go, ever since I watched Mary-Kate and Ashley’s “Winning London.” Every corner you turn, there is different sights to see. There is so much history and amazing things to learn about and see, which can give you major culture shock.
I arrived at Heathrow airport Saturday, May 7th at 6:35 am. I had slept for (maybe) 3 hours on the plane that left at 4:25 pm the night before. Enter: Jet-lag. (People who say they don’t get jet-lag are lying to you, because it’s a thing.) After I was picked up by my cab, got my flat keys, and finally made it to my flat, I found out it wasn’t ready for me. So, I was forced to walk around in a place that is COMPLETELY unfamiliar to me. Luckily, I was able to leave my 70 lb. suitcase in my flat. After about an hour of walking around aimlessly, I returned to my newly cleaned flat, and was totally bombarded with all he culture around me. So what was one do when they are stressed? CALL MOM. (Mom’s make everything better) She eventually calmed my anxiety down enough for me to realize I was actually in London. The place I dreamed about.
Living in London is like a plot twist at the end of a movie. You never know what to expect. For me personally, I adjusted to everything really fast. Even though, I have only been here for a week, I feel like London is my second home. As a fashion student, there is inspiration any way you turn and it’s absolutely amazing.
